The Srinagar-Leh National Highway reopened for traffic on Tuesday after being closed for just over a month due to heavy snowfall at Zojila Pass. This marks the shortest winter closure of the pass in history, according to officials. Director General of Border Roads, Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan, officially reopened the route. Speaking near Zojila Pass, he expressed joy over the reopening, comparing it to a festival for the people and the defense forces who rely on the road. He also praised the efforts of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) workers, who endured harsh weather and dangerous conditions to clear the route and restore connectivity.
