Starting today, women in Jammu and Kashmir will be able to travel for free on government buses by simply showing their Aadhaar card. This announcement, which was made by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on International Women’s Day, marks a significant move toward promoting gender equality and reducing financial burdens on women. The free travel initiative will apply to all government-owned buses, including eBuses.
The Chief Minister will officially launch this service today at 2:30 PM from the SKICC in Srinagar. A detailed communique (No. PS/HCM/2025/107) issued today by the CM’s office also highlights that the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir has been tasked with ensuring smooth coordination for the flag-off ceremony.
