Mughal Road Reopening Postponed Due to New Landslides

Several landslides have hit different parts of the road in Poonch district. Earlier, authorities had planned to reopen the road today, with the district administration aiming for that date. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO), which recently took charge of this road, had been clearing snow for the past few days. They managed to clear the road up to Pir Ki Gali from the Poonch side two days ago. Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Surankote, Farooq Khan, said that work was moving as planned and they were hopeful of reopening the road by April 10. However, the new landslides have caused a delay. He added that if the weather stays clear, the road should now be open by April 11. An inspection by the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police is scheduled for today.
