The second phase of the 5th Khelo India Winter Games, set to begin in Gulmarg on Saturday, has been postponed due to inadequate snowfall in the region.
Officials stated that new dates will be announced once the weather conditions improve and a fresh assessment is conducted.
“The Jammu and Kashmir leg of the Khelo India Winter Games has been postponed,” a sports ministry source told PTI.
Gulmarg was scheduled to host various snow-based events, including alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, ski mountaineering, and snowboarding. However, due to insufficient snow cover at Affarwat Peak and Gulmarg Bowl, the events have been delayed.
The first phase of the Games was successfully held in Leh from January 23 to 27, featuring ice hockey and skating competitions.
