In an extraordinary achievement for Jammu and Kashmir’s floriculture and tourism sectors, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden — Asia’s largest — has set a new record that will be remembered for years to come. Located at the foothills of the majestic Zabarwan Range and offering stunning views of the Dal Lake, the garden witnessed a historic 81,452 visitors on April 6, 2025, the highest single-day turnout since its inception.
Since opening for the public season on March 26, 2025, the garden has drawn an astonishing 389,608 visitors over a mere 12 days. Today’s exceptional attendance even surpasses global benchmarks, outpacing the renowned Keukenhof Gardens of the Netherlands, which traditionally welcomes up to 45,000 visitors in a peak day.
This year’s edition of the tulip bloom is nothing short of a visual symphony, with 1.7 million tulips spread across 74 dazzling varieties, creating an awe-inspiring mosaic of colours, textures, and scents. The garden has become a beacon for both domestic and international tourists, photographers, botanists, and nature enthusiasts alike, offering a once-in-a-lifetime floral experience.
Recognized by the World Book of Records, London, this monumental milestone reinforces the Tulip Garden’s standing among the world’s premier floral destinations and is a proud testament to India’s rich natural heritage.
Behind this massive success lies the meticulous planning and unwavering dedication of multiple departments. The Department of Floriculture, along with the Divisional and District Administrations, Traffic Department, and other support agencies, worked tirelessly to ensure seamless logistics, security, and visitor services — from crowd management to transportation and hospitality — providing every visitor with a safe, welcoming, and memorable experience.
Officials remarked that enhanced infrastructural facilities, digital ticketing systems, improved traffic control, and curated visitor experiences contributed significantly to managing the enormous influx without any major disruptions.
The Tulip Garden’s 2025 season has not only set new records but has also strengthened Srinagar’s position as a leading springtime destination on the global tourism map. It has become a symbol of resilience, peace, beauty, and revival for Jammu and Kashmir — attracting visitors, generating economic growth, and showcasing the valley’s unmatched natural splendour.
As April unfolds, the garden continues to bloom in all its glory, promising even greater footfalls and memories for countless visitors, while setting new benchmarks in tourism excellence.
April 6, 2025, will forever remain a golden day in the proud story of the Tulip Garden, Srinagar — where nature, culture, and history came together in a breath-taking celebration of life.
