PM Modi has named Gulmarg as “India’s Winter Sports Capital” as the region prepares to host the 5th Khelo India Winter Games. With over 1,000 athletes from across the country set to compete, the games will take place in two iconic locations: Gulmarg for snow-based events from February 22 to 25, and Ladakh for ice-based sports from January 23 to 27. The event will feature thrilling competitions in Alpine Skiing, Nordic Skiing, Snowboarding, and Ski Mountaineering, with athletes representing various states and union territories. This prestigious event aims to promote winter sports in India while also boosting tourism in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
