Crescent Not Sighted: Ramadhan to Begin in Kashmir on Sunday

The holy month of Ramadhan will begin in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as the rest of the country, on Sunday after the crescent moon was not sighted. Grand Mufti of Kashmir, Nasir ul Islam, confirmed that the moon was not visible anywhere in Kashmir. As a result, Ramadhan will start on March 2. Similarly, the Markaz-e-Chand Committee in Lucknow announced that the crescent was not seen, with its President, Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi, stating that the first day of Ramadhan will be observed on Sunday, March 2. The Markaz-e-Royat-e-Hilal Committee at Delhi’s Jama Masjid also confirmed that no moon sighting was reported anywhere in India. Meanwhile, in Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries, the moon was sighted, and they will begin fasting on Saturday.
