The 85-kilometer Bandipora-Gurez road is expected to reopen for traffic today after being closed for nearly a month.
DM Gurez, Mukhtar Ahmad, said the road might open by afternoon. However, if it does, only one-way traffic from Bandipora to Gurez will be permitted.
Drivers must use anti-skid chains, and traffic will only be allowed until 4 PM, the official added.
BRO’s Operational Commanding Officer, Avinash Kumar, said the final decision depends on avalanche risks and snow levels, as clearance work is still ongoing.
