J&K Grand Mufti Declares ₹75 as Sadaqat-ul-Fitr Amount for 2025

The Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, has announced that the Sadaqat-ul-Fitr for 2025 has been set at ₹75 per person. According to Mufti Nasir, every Muslim—men, women, and children—is required to pay this charity before Eid-ul-Fitr prayers. The purpose of Sadaqat-ul-Fitr is to help those in need so they can also celebrate Eid with ease. He explained that the amount is based on the cost of 1.75 kg of wheat and was decided after discussions with Islamic scholars. Parents should pay on behalf of their minor children, while adult children who earn should contribute for themselves. Mufti Nasir emphasized that this donation helps purify a person’s fast and should be given directly to those in need, such as orphans, the poor, and travellers. He also clarified that it should not be used for mosque expenses, religious institutions, or political activities.
