Snowbound Border Areas in J&K to Get Air Connectivity with New Helicopter Services Starting January 25

To improve connectivity in remote, snow-covered regions, the Jammu and Kashmir government is launching helicopter services for areas like Gurez, Karnah, and Tangdhar, which are often cut off during winter due to heavy snowfall. A successful trial run was conducted by JetServe Aviation in Gurez Valley’s Bagtore area. The service will soon serve villages like Bagtore, Baduaab, Dawar, and Badugaam, with more trials planned for other snowbound areas. Helicopter services for Gurez, Tulail, and Bagtore are set to begin on January 25. The delay in services this year was due to the conclusion of the previous contract. A new provider, JetServe Aviation, has now been hired to operate the routes. The service is crucial for emergency evacuations, medical transportation, and government employee movement, especially when key roads like Bandipora-Gurez and Kupwara-Tangdhar are closed due to snow.
