With the rise of global diseases and viruses, Saudi Arabia has implemented new health regulations to safeguard pilgrims visiting for Umrah. As millions of worshippers gather in the holy cities, these measures aim to prevent the spread of Meningococcal Meningitis and other infectious diseases.
Mandatory Meningitis Vaccination for Umrah Travelers
Effective February 1, 2025, all passengers traveling for Umrah must be vaccinated with the Quadrivalent Neisseria Meningitis Vaccine (Polysaccharide or Conjugate type). To ensure smooth travel, passengers must present a valid vaccination certificate at the check-in counter, which must meet the following conditions:
- The vaccine certificate must be issued at least 10 days before arrival in Saudi Arabia.
- The certificate must not exceed three years for the Polysaccharide type and five years for the Conjugate type.
- Children under the age of one year are exempt from this vaccination requirement.
Important Advisory for Umrah Travelers
If you are planning to perform Umrah, you are required to keep your vaccination certificate updated and carry it with you to avoid any travel disruptions. Airlines and immigration authorities will strictly enforce these health regulations.
For a smooth and hassle-free Umrah journey, ensure your vaccinations are up to date before traveling.
