No Direct Train Between Kashmir & Delhi

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the lack of a direct train service from Delhi to Srinagar goes against the purpose of the Kashmir-Jammu rail line. He believes the rail link was supposed to make travel easier and more convenient between Delhi and Srinagar, but without a direct connection, it doesn’t fully serve that goal. Omar Abdullah, sharing a post on X (formerly Twitter), acknowledged concerns about passenger security on trains heading to Kashmir. However, he suggested that instead of making passengers switch trains, security checks could be conducted at Katra or Jammu. This would help improve convenience while addressing safety concerns.
